After rather foolishly scorning the affections of a priestess of Umberlee, the sorcerer Imaedril shortly thereafter found himself surrounded by the priestess's wereshark minions, and unceremoniously turned into a seagull. After a year of languishing in his feathery form, the sorcerer cleverly found a way to reveal to Umberlee that her priestess had been stealing money from the church.
Umberlee, full of rage, drowned the priestess accordingly, and freed Imaedril from his avian form. Fleeing as far inland as was possible, the sorcerer swore off any dealings with the clergy, and spent countless hours crafting himself a ring that he felt would protect himself from both any transformative spells - and give him ample protection from any shapeshifting servants. |
